Field Exercises of a Bicycling Nature

As part of the 2011 Winter Workshop held at the Academy of Architecture Amsterdam, a group of 13 student cycled through a polder, crossing it's fences and ditches, a wood, along a dike, through a garden, across railway lines, and a restored ox-bow lake by following a line drawn on a map. They adapted two bicycles so as to cross these obstacles. The aim was to explore the accessibility or otherwise of the polder landscape.

The exercise was carried out as part of a project called A Stroll in the Air under the curatorship of the artist Jeanne van Heeswijk: http://www.jeanneworks.net
